geboren 1946 in Salzburg,
Musikstudien (Komposition und Dirigieren) an der Hochschule Mozarteum
und (Musikwissenschaft) an der Universität in Salzburg, sowie am Conservatoire National et Superieur in
Paris bei Olivier Messiaen und
Pierre Schaeffer.
1973 - 2015 an der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg lehrend tätig,
seit 1978 als Leiter der Lehrkanzel
für Musikanalytik und seit 1986 als Hochschulprofessor für dieses Fach.
1991 - 95 stellvertretender Rektor der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg
und von
1995 - 2000 Rektor dieser Institution.
1975 - 1986 künstlerischer Leiter des ÖSTERREICHISCHEN ENSEMBLES FÜR
NEUE MUSIK und damit
umfangreiche Konzerttätigkeit in ganz Europa.
1977 – 2006 künstlerischer Direktor des Festivals für
zeitgenössische Musik "ASPEKTE SALZBURG" in Salzburg,
1994 Gründung und Leitung des „ASPEKTE New Music Ensembles“ und Konzerte
in der ganzen Welt.
1981 - 1992 Präsident der Europäischen Konferenz der Veranstalter Neuer
Musik, der Vereinigung europäischer
Neuer-Musik-Festivals, die ihren Sitz in Amsterdam hat.
2004 – 2014 Präsident des Österreichischen Komponistenbundes.
2006 – 2014 Präsident des „European Composers Forum“ des Dachverbandes
der europäischen Komponistenverbände für klassische Musik
2007 Mitbegründung der „European Composers and
Songwriters Alliance“, des Dachverbandes der europäischen Komponistenverbände
aller Musikgenres und bis 2013 Co-Präsident.
2017 anlässlich des 10 jährigen Bestehens von ECSA zum Ehrenpräsident
dieser Vereinigung ernannt.
In den letzten Jahren häufige Tätigkeit als Gastkomponist und Lektor an
verschiedenen nord- und südamerikanischen Universitäten.
Als Komponist in erster Linie durch Kammermusik, Orchesterwerke,
elektronische und Computermusik hervorgetreten.

Konzerttätigkeit, vor allem als Kammermusiker,

MIRKO DORNER
1921 (Budapest) - 2004 (Essen / BRD). Als Achtjähriger erhielt er den
ersten Cellounterricht. Vier Jahre später wurde er
Schüler von Enrico Mainardi, der ihn auch
zum Komponieren anregte. 1939 begann Dorner sein Studium in
Rom (S. Cecilia), das er 1943 mit einem Diplom abschloss. 1944 Rückkehr
nach Jugoslawien.
In Rom lebte Dorner auch vom Ertrag seiner zweiten Begabung - der
Malerei - die ihm Anerkennung auch
seitens der Kritik einbrachte. 1945 wurde er nach kurzem
Orchesterintermezzo Professor an der
Belgrader Musikhochschule. Gewinner mehrerer Musikwettbewerbe. 1954
Umzug nach Westberlin.
Nach einer kurzen Tätigkeit als Solocellist der Berliner Philharmoniker,
entscheidet er sich für die solistische
Laufbahn und übernimmt gleichzeitig die Celloklasse an der Berliner
Hochschule.
Konzerttätigkeit in nahezu allen europäischen Ländern und in Japan.
Dorner lebte seit 1965 in Essen, wo er bis zu seiner Emeritierung
Professor an der Hochschule für Musik Folkwang war.
Außer Cello- und Klaviermusik schrieb Dorner zahlreiche Werke für
Kammermusik; Lieder und ein Cellokonzert.
1921 (Budapest) – 2004 (Essen). His first cello lessons he got as an 8 years old. Four years later he was already a pupil of
Enrico Mainardi, who also influenced his interests in composition.
In 1939 Dorner began his studies at S. Cecilia in
Rome, and finished his degree in 1943.
Dorner also lived in Rome from the outputs of his second talent -
Painting - which
brought him positive critical recognition. After a short orcherstra "intermezzo"
he became in 1945 Music professor
at the University of Belgrad. He was a winner of many musical competitions. Moved to west Berlin in
1954.
After a brief activity as solo cellist in the Berlin Philharmonic,
he decided rather to take the direction alone as
soloist and tookover at the same time the cello classes at the university of Berlin.
Active Participation in concerts practically in all European countries and Japan. Since 1965
Dorners main residence has
been in
Essen, where he was professor at the University for music in
Folkwang until he ritired.
Dorners
also composed great numbers of chamber music, songs and a cello concerto besides his many compositions
for cello and piano.
JOHANNES KOTSCHY
geboren 1949 in Bayern, studierte zunächst Pharmazie, bevor er sein
Musikstudium (Klavier, Kammermusik bei Erika Frieser
und Komposition bei Cesar Bresgen) in
Salzburg begann.
Nach dem Abschluß des Studiums
setzte er seine Eigenstudien auf dem Gebiet der harmonikalen Grundlagenforschung
fort und
komponiert seit 1984 hauptsächlich im Naturtonsystem.
Seit 1981 lebt er als freischaffender Komponist in Salzburg. Für seine
Arbeiten erhielt er wiederholt Kompositionspreise.
Seine Werkliste umfasst Lieder, Kammermusik, Ballettmusik, Happenings,
sowie Chor- und Orchesterwerke.

He first studied pharmacy before he switched to music (piano, chamber
music with Erika Frieser and composition with Cesar Bresgen) in
Salzburg.
After completing his studies he continued with research in the area of harmonic fundamentals.
Since 1984 he's been composing mostly in natural tonal systems.
Since 1981 he's been living as an independent composer in
Salzburg. He has repeatedly won prizes for compositions.

HERBERT GRASSL
wurde 1948 in Laas (Südtirol) geboren. Er studierte am Salzburger
"Mozarteum" Musikpädagogik, Trompete,
Komposition und Chordirigieren. Nach Abschluss seines
Kompositionsstudiums bei Cesar Bresgen folgten
weitere Kompositionskurse bei Boguslaw Schaeffer und Irmfried Radauer (Computermusik).
Herbert Grassl leitete von 1988 -
1995 das „Österreichische Ensemble für Neue Musik".
1979 und 1983 erhielt er das Österreichische Staatsstipendium für
Komponisten des Bundesministeriums für
Unterricht, Kunst und Sport.
Von 1982 - 2008 war Herbert Grassl als Lehrbeauftragter
und Hochschulassistent am "Mozarteum" tätig.
Seine Werkliste umfasst Orchestermusik, Chormusik, Kammermusik und
Computermusik.

Andor Losonczy
1932 (Budapest) - 2018 (Salzburg)
geboren in Budapest als Sohn
des Komponisten und Pianisten L. Deszö erhielt
er in Pécs
und Budapest eine fundierte musikalische Ausbildung am Klavier und in
Komposition.
1955 wurde er Solist der staatlichen Konzertagentur "Filharmónia".
1960 verließ er Ungarn mit seiner späteren Frau Klara und wurde noch im
selben Jahr zunächst
Vertragsbediensteter an der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg und
übernahm 1986 eine Professur
für Klavier mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Neuer Musik.
Bis zu seiner Emeritierung 1998 hielt er Vorlesungen über moderne Musik
und die Romantik.
Bis auf zwei sind sämtliche vor 1960 in Ungarn komponierte Werke
verlorengegangen, alle elektronischen
und Computer-Stücke (Aufenthalte in New York 1986 und am IRCAM in Paris
1980) unauffindbar.
Er wirkte als Pianist bei etwa hundert Uraufführungen anderer
zeitgenössischer Komponisten als Pianist mit.
Er spielte auch bei zahlreichen Festivals und bei hunderten von
Aufnahmen in verschiedenen Rundfunkanstalten.

DEXTER MORRILL
geboren 1938. Er studierte
Komposition bei W. Skelton, L. Ratner und
R. Palmer. 1960 Bachelor of Arts an der
Colgate University, 1962 Master of Arts
an der Stanford University. 1970 promovierte er an der Cornell University zum
Doctor of Musical Arts mit dem Dissertationsthema:
"Kontrapunktische Polytonalität bei Darius Milhaud".
Seit 1962 Professor an verschiedenen amerikanischen Universitäten:
Colgate University, St. John's University,
Cornell University, University City-Missouri. Derzeit Leiter des
Computermusik-Studios und Professor für Musik
an der Colgate University.
Seine Computermusik (Musik für Tonband sowie für Tonband und
Instrumente) wird weltweit aufgeführt.
Er erhielt mehrere Kompositionsaufträge des National Endowment for the Arts und war 1980 Gastkomponist am
IRCAM in Paris. Morrill ist einer
der Pioniere der Computeranalyse und -synthese von Trompetentönen (Anfang der
siebziger Jahre). Mit Hilfe der Computeranalyse von Live-Musik für
Trompete erforschte er die musikalische Phraseologie.
Als ehemaliger Student von Dizzy Gillespie
schrieb er Musik für Stan Getz.

Colgate University
in 1971, where he is the Charles A. Dana
Professor of Music. His music for computer generated tapes and performers
has been performed widely in Eastern and Western
Europe, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and the United States.
He has received several commissions from the National Endowment for the Arts, and was
a Guest Researcher at IRCAM
in 1980.
Morrill pioneered the computer analysis/synthesis of trompet tunes in the 1970's, and studied the elements of
musical phrasing using a computer aided analysis of trumpet performances.
A student of Dizzy Gillespie, Morrill has
composed music for saxophonist Stan Getz.
His current work involves the use of computer systems for solo improvisation.
BOGUSLAW SCHAEFFER
1929 (Lwow - Lemberg) – 2019 (Salzburg).
Studium in Opole und an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Krakau
(Violine und Komposition).
Schaeffer schrieb 1953 das erste polnische Zwölftonwerk für Orchester:
"Nocturne" für Streicher.
Er war von 1953 bis 1958 als Theoretiker für neue Musik tätig und widmet
sich ab 1959 ausschließlich dem Komponieren.
Seit 1963 Professor für Komposition an der staatlichen Musikhochschule
Krakau. Verfasser der Kompositionslehre
"Introduction to composition". Autor zahlreicher Bücher und Lexika.
Mitglied der "Grupa Krakowska".
Seit 1979 Leiter des "Internationalen Workshops für
Komponisten" in Salzburg, 1989 – 2002 Professor für Komposition
am "Mozarteum" in Salzburg.

BRUNO STROBL
1949 in Klagenfurt geboren, ist Komponist und Musikerzieher. Während
seiner Schul- und Studienzeit
studierte er Klarinette und
Theorie am Konservatorium in Klagenfurt. Erste Kompositionsstudien bei Nikolaus
Fheodoroff, dann
Kompositionsstudium und Abschluss mit Diplom bei Dieter Kaufmann.
Strobl ist seit 1977 Obmann der Kärntner Zweigsektion der
"Internationalen Gesellschaft für neue Musik"(IGNM)
und als solcher Veranstalter der "Kärntner Meisterkurse für
aktuelle Musik". Er ist Leiter
des "Vokalensemble VOX NOVA", das sich vor allem die
Aufführung neuer Chormusik zum Ziel gesetzt hat,
und Dirigent des "Ensemble Kreativ."
1983 erhielt Strobl den Förderungspreis des Landes Kärnten für Musik und
1988 das Staatsstipendium für Komposition.
Rundfunkaufnahmen durch den ORF und den Westdeutschen Rundfunk.

at the Conservatory in
Klagenfurt and later composition first with Nikolaus Fheodoroff and later with Dieter
Kaufmann.
Since 1977 Stobl is chairman of the carinthian section of the Austrian
ISCM and organizer of the
"Kärntner Meisterkurse für aktuelle Musik". He is director of the "Vokalensemble
VOX NOVA" which performs
predominantly contemporary music and he is conductor of the "Ensemble
Kreativ".
